The day has finally come, peasants! FeatherWick Press is launching TODAY!!!
three cheers for my sudden burst of Saturday inspiration and for finally kicking procrastination in the butt!
To be honest, this first post has been a nightmare to try and draft. Like how does one simply…??? Switch blogs…??? Without completely losing and confusing her previous audience? The horrific possibilities are endless. However, eventually one must come to grips with the fact that not everything lasts–not even procrastination–and so here I am to introduce you to our brand new blog, FeatherWick Press! (and also I’m currently paying for a domain that I HAVEN’T USED IN THREE MONTHS SO LIKE. There’s also that. Nothing speaks louder than wasted dollars.)
Now, I’ve had a lot of hopes and dreams for this here blog. A lot. And while some of my ideas turned out way too big to implement right now (lol, or maybe ever), the main core of this blog remains much the same–a place to share my writing journey with the world, one page at a time. If you’re here from my past blogging days at Smudged Thoughts…welcome! The content you’ll see around here will be much the same as before, with just a few added twists and a bit more structure and actual posting than I had over at Smudged Thoughts! (apparently I’m still capable of dissing myself on the internet. that’s special.) I’m talking behind-the-scenes looks at my current works-in-progress, character interviews with my incredibly strange casts, bookish and cinematic deep-dives into plot and structure and what I personally feel makes or breaks a story, general life-ish-ness (which now includes my learning experiences from being a Children’s Librarian!), and hopefully more things of interest as this blog–and my writing journey–continues to grow!
For all of my new readers… hi! I suppose now is as good a time as any to introduce myself, because when our first official post hits next week, it’s going to be full-on blogging mode and very little time for introductions. XD So! Here are all the Very Important Things you should know about me before deciding whether or not to continue the experience of following along!
WHO AM I?
Simply put: I am a writer of many things. Typically, these Things are whimsical, quirky, sometimes dark, and pretty much always include a plucky protagonist, quirky side characters, found family, and the prospect of hope in a starless night. I’m obsessed with the night sky, music, and villains, and have been known to ramble about Jim Moriarty more than is necessary. I drink way too much tea, sleep far too little, and would rather daydream about the impossible than believe in reality. If magical stories about alternate worlds and severed arms are your jam, you’re probably gonna want to stick around! If not… yeah, you should probably leave while you still have the chance.
Ye have been warned.
As mentioned above, this blog will be dedicated to the documentation and discoveries of my writing journey! It’s a place for writers to come together and share our love of words and storycraft. It is a place for us to write together, learn together, and grow together. And I am so excited for you guys to join me on this crazy, whimsy-fueled ride!
In Conclusion: Welcome to FeatherWick Press, my lords and ladies of the pen! We’re not professional in any sense of the word, but goodness gracious we know how to have fun. XD
To kick things off, hit me up in the comments below and tell me what you’re working on! Whether it’s a manuscript, short stories, poetry, whatever. I want to know all about you and what you’re passionate about writing! And stay tuned for next Friday, when we talk all about writing goals… and why–and how–I’m setting some hard deadlines for myself in the coming year!
Happy Writing, Peasants!
Aaahhhhh, so excited to see you post over here! It’s so pretty *starry-eyes*.

Wheeeee! This is gonna be fun!! *buckles self in for the ride* PA: Ladies and gentleman, please keep your arms and legs instead the vehicle that is Kenzie’s blog at all times otherwise you probably *will* lose an arm. xD
Honestly, I’m procrastinating right now with, uh, multiple projects. *sheepish grin* Buuuut hopefully I too can kick that procrastination in the rear end and…yeah…one of them includes a creepy-ish thing. hehe.

Congrats on launching the new blog! So excited for you and this new chapter in your author journey!
I’m currently in the editing dungeon, where I might spend the rest of my natural born days. (Ok, probably not… I’m sure I’ll get to play with a new story someday, but right now it’s hard to see that light at the end of the tunnel… oh wait, that might just be an editing train….)
🙂 yay for new adventures!

(also, just as an aside, wordpress seems to hate me since I left it… so leaving comments has become a bit of a nightmare – I’ve tried to leave a comment just by filling in my details rather than logging in and it’s not letting me… so I had to go find my super neglected blog/devotional page that maybe I should at some point get back to writing for…) anyway, not sure if the comment-ability is something you can check into on your end or not to make sure that people who don’t have wordpress accounts (or don’t want to use those accounts to comment) can still comment… 🙂 yay technology.

Meep!! Thank you SO much, Jenelle!! I’m so excited to be here and finally have my own little corner of the cyberwebs!
Oh geez. I’m right there with ya! I’ve been revising my book for AGES. And legit it seems to be going nowhere. 😭
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LETTING ME KNOW THIS! I’ve been trying to iron out all of the bugs, but unfortunately some of them seem to have slipped through the cracks. Gotta love techy things. 😭 I THINK I may have fixed it? I poked around in the settings and I think I’ve made it so that you don’t have to be logged in to comment…but if it’s still not working please let me know!!

Honestly the mountain metaphor hits home. This IS a mountain we’re climbing, but the views are absolutely stunning.
